“As another one of The Gays with a bachelor’s in molecular bio, currently working as a research assistant in a computational bio lab…I hate the way that people use biology to fuel their own hatred. Within the sci community I don’t personally have many problems, b/c I don’t look stereotypically “gay.” But I frequently hear biologists or scientifically minded people using biology to justify their homophobic, misogynistic, or transphobic b.s., and it really pisses me off. (Examples: Well, being gay isn’t biological; the human race would die off…His/her chromosomes say that (s)he is a (wo)man…Biologically speaking, women’s brains just can’t handle science/math/coding).”- Amanda
